Recently a new startup has emerged in Nigeria that is making a big impact in the market. After visiting Uwork, the CEO, Mr. Wentzel Khoza, gave a concrete account of what Uwork is doing and what it wants to accomplish.
Uwork is the largest social media rental platform in Nigeria. Uwork pays a percentage of the advertising fees to the platform users.
Currently Uwork has signed up $5 million worth of advertising contracts worldwide. And it pays over 200,000 users a daily commission of $100,000.
Uwork is set to become the largest part-time job platform in Africa. Valuation is over $500 million. Several VCs are currently in talks to invest.
Uwork is also the pioneer of distributed work. Distributed work, as opposed to traditional centralized work, refers to all types of work that can be earned in an open decentralized network, with the goal of creating a new work system, based on mobile internet and smartphones.
Uwork's mission is to allow anyone with a smartphone to give their time, labor and effort anywhere. It will be paid and rewarded. In the first phase Uwork will launch the simplest model to get our users into the habit of distributed work. Uwork will act as an intermediary, allowing our users to rent out your social media idle resources to advertisers. You can pick up a task in the Uwork app and then help merchants and advertisers repost product information to your social media pages as required. The merchants and advertisers pay Uwork, and Uwork pays the user a commission.
During the interview, Wentzel Khoza told the reporter that after Uwork was launched, many users were unable to receive the mobile verification code properly because there were so many registered users, resulting in registration failure. There are many other areas that need to be optimized and modified in order for users to use Uwork better. The marketing team is collecting different suggestions from customers every day and submitting them to the technical team for changes.
Wentzel Khoza also revealed to reporters that an advertising agreement will be signed with a cryptocurrency company in the near future, charging 100 BTC for advertising.
We will continue to follow the news about Uwork.ng.
